Raised in Dallas, Texas, James Spies attended college at the renowned Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, and attended law school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1998, Mr. Spies moved to Kansas City where he worked as and Assistant District Attorney's office until 2003.

In May 2003 the Law office of James L. Spies opened, and from the onset he has enjoyed unparalleled success representing those charged in criminal matters. He has a loyal clientele, as well as the respect of his fellow attorneys and the judges whom he appears.
